Job Description

Our Commercial and Private Banking partners need the support of a client relationship assistant to deliver our First Horizon Bank quality service to our clients. You'll serve as the backbone for our lenders, providing full administrative support while assisting the clients with large and complex accounts. A day in the Life of a Client Relationship Assistant:

  • Assist clients’ operational needs, bank products/services needs and in all areas of the client’s relationship with the bank
  • Facilitate in all aspects of the Relationship Managers’ Portfolio and support of Commercial Relationship Managers  
  • Communicate with external liaisons involved in transactions as well as internal associates involved in loan decisions

The incumbent in this position will provide administrative and commercial lending support to Commercial and Private Banking Relationship Managers and other Bankers within their assigned area.

  1. Provide general administrative support to Bankers
  2. Provide Commercial Lending Support to Commercial Relationship Managers
  3. Review and Fund Loans
  4. Assist with maintaining Relationship Managers portfolios – clear loan, collateral and deposit exceptions, credit exceptions, assist with past dues
  5. Independently able to identify clients’ operational needs and bank products/services to meet these needs
  6. Provide assistance to the bank's clients in all areas of the clients’ relationship with the bank, including loans, deposits, and other bank services
  7. Authorize payment and fees of commercial client overdrafts
  8. Approve and process commercial client’s withdrawals on lines of credit
  9. Communicate with clients, attorney’s, insurance companies, title companies, and various other professionals
  10. Assist in ordering appraisals, flood determinations, UCC’s and familiar with OFAC
  11. Work closely with Bankers, Underwriters, Loan Closers, Loan processing and legal documentation areas to ensure satisfactory closing of loans to clients
  12. Work closely with Bankers, Underwriters, and loan operations to ensure satisfactory on-going monitoring of loans to clients
  13. Work closely with Bankers, Treasury Management, and deposit operations to ensure satisfactory on-going monitoring of depository/Treasury Management accounts/services to clients
  14. Open new accounts and ensure all required documentation is obtained from the client
  15. Process wire requests for clients.
  16. Assist other AAs and other departments with administrative support when needed

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
The incumbent must have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) and three to six years experience in Banking and/or Commercial Lending Assistant roles, or at least three years loan Operations experience. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a solid working knowledge of banking and good judgment skills are also required. The incumbent will be Familiar with Laser Pro and Attorney prepared documents, and with both domestic and international wire transfers. Also must be: A Team Player; Well Organized- Able to meet deadlines and goals’; A self starter- Ability to Multi Task; Able to work Independently with little or no supervision; Highly Motivated; and able to travel (within city).

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Basic Skills:

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Intermediate Skills:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Applications, i.e., Email software (ex. MS Outlook), Word processing software (ex. MS Word), Spreadsheet software (ex. MS Excel), Internet browsing software (ex. MS Explorer), and 10-key calculator and Facsimile machine.
