Position Overview:

The Manager, Employee Engagement and Events, reports to the Director, Internal Communications and Employee Engagement, and is responsible for developing, facilitating and overseeing communication plans and events that support the employee engagement strategy. Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills are required.

Key areas of employee engagement include developing compelling messages and organizing activities related to employee recognition, health and wellness, learning and professional development, onboarding and training, retention, strategic priorities, volunteer opportunities across our footprint, and our company’s Firstpower culture.

Job responsibilities include:
• Creating, executing and managing innovative community impact employee programs and initiatives, including annual company giving campaign, that increase employee engagement and meet community reinvestment act (CRA) requirements

• Collecting and compiling metrics to measure success of employee engagement initiatives and participating in ongoing analysis of key data to identify trends

• Developing and executing plans for effective organizational change management

• Managing budget status, proposals, and timelines on projects intended to increase employee engagement and enhance employee culture

• Managing internal crisis communications plans, processes, and protocols as needed

• Planning, implementing, and overseeing logistics for strategic internal events and programs, including the company’s annual leadership program, employee celebrations, employee engagement surveys, messaging and public relations related to awards and employer of choice recognition, recruitment campaigns, and teambuilding events

• Assisting with messaging to leverage employees as brand advocates

• Collecting and compiling timely data to support business initiatives through focus groups, one-on-one interviews, surveys and other methodologies, evaluating and applying data to support decisions, and communicating data to enable stakeholders to chart progress and create actions that drive positive employee engagement

• Serving as a strategic communications partner by providing counsel to managers in the development of appropriate messaging and engagement opportunities for employees in support of key business priorities, activities and initiatives, acting as a trusted resource and developing strong relationships with colleagues at all levels

• Writing, editing, and developing compelling content with vivid storytelling and thoughtful framing/positioning for company materials such as internal announcements, newsletters, presentations, social media posts, videos, websites and other communications as assigned

• Working closely with Human Resources to create and maintain advertisements for employment opportunities, public relations messaging, and any public facing collateral that contains the company’s brand


Requirements Job requirements include:
• Experience in employee engagement and volunteer management
• Knowledge of volunteer engagement / volunteer management programs
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong writing, editing and proofreading capabilities and familiarity with AP Style
• Ability to deal with fast-paced environment and tight deadlines
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint presentation creation
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences across multiple platforms
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work independently and/or collaboratively to achieve desired results
• Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Journalism or a related field and at least 5 years of communications experience
