Position Overview:

FHN Financial is a broker-dealer that works with over 5,000 institutional customers, including one-quarter of all US banks.  The Portfolio Strategies Group works closely with our sales representatives and their institutional customers, with a particular focus on our bank customers.   The group is presently made up of six members on the Memphis trading floor and three members in our Houston office.   This open position is on our Memphis trading floor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Use FHN’s proprietary web platform to analyze the impact of investment portfolio restructures.
  • Develop a proficiency in bond analysis as well as an understanding of bank portfolios and balance sheets.
  • Assist sales reps in presenting portfolio strategies to their institutional customers.
  • Assist in the preparation of articles related to specific portfolio strategies as well as with selected regulatory, accounting and tax issues. 
  • Participate in presentations given at FHN sponsored or trade group conferences.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in finance, economics, mathematics, accounting, or comparable area that demonstrates ability to perform financial analysis.
  • Good communication and writing capability.
  • Self-directed worker with minimal need for daily instruction on key tasks.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing tasks as market shifts alter priorities and work flow.
  • Skilled at using Microsoft Office
