Job Description

Key Responsibilities as an Underwriting Coordinator:

  • Work in tandem with Institutional Municipal Underwriters to help ensure the best execution of the documentation of new Municipal Bond issues.
  • Creating documents related to new underwriting issues which contain detailed information about the deal for distribution to member financial institutions
  • Perform and record calculations regarding the issues pricing, participant’s percentage ownership, profit and expenses.
  • Ensure compliance with all FHN policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a strict timeline according to duties to ensure on time completion and submission of settlement documents.
  • Prepare Good Faith wire requests for potential municipal bond issues.
  • Post new issues in FHN’s tracking tools.
  • Perform daily reconciliation of Syndicate Issues by posting profit and expenses.
  • Journal accounting entries in Phase 3 (FHN’s Ops Accounting System).
  • Clearing trades on Phase 3 for bond closings.
  • Wire transfer input with speed and accuracy.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Four year college education in Business, Finance or related field or commensurate business experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years work experience.
  • Advanced computer skills including Word, Excel and Outlook. Ability to learn industry specific software.
  • Bloomberg experience a plus.
  • Excellent grammar, editing and proofing skills required. Strong written communication abilities.
  • Strong verbal communication. Experience discussing product details with clients and industry professionals.
  • Good prioritization skills and able to multitask under pressure.
  • Willing to work additional time as needed to complete tasks and meet regulatory deadlines.
  • Ability to tolerate fluctuating workflows and determined to complete tasks during peak times.
  • Ability to initiate action independently. Team player, collaborative, ability to work with and through others.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
