Job Description

This internship will be part of First Horizon's Charlotte Commercial Real Estate group.

Position is located in Charlotte, NC.

This Internship will provide:

Our Internship program is a 9 week PAID program that starts on Monday, June 1, 2020 and runs through Friday, July 31, 2020.

Intern Objective:

To learn and understand the basics of Commercial Real Estate Lending but also gain a general knowledge of how the bank business works as a whole.

Value for the Intern: 

While certainly gaining direct experience within a specialty group, the Intern will also have opportunities to develop interpersonal skills within the bank and other LOB partners within the local market.

Job Description: 

Work within the CRE deal team to:

  1. Aide in credit analysis after obtaining all required documents like: Tax Returns, internal financial statements, credit reports, spreads, and personal financial statements.
  2. Review financial statements for accuracy, ensuring compliance with Bank’s internal policies, procedures, established guidelines and government regulations.
  3. Assist in documenting the decision to approve or reject request; provide narrative to submitter to ensure they understand the decision.
  4. Challenge current processes and procedures in an effort to maximize efficiency and productivity.
  5. Prepares summaries and charts, presents facts, and offers opinions concerning credit-worthiness of borrower, prospect and/or guarantor.
  6. Collaborates with internal and external parties to complete the loan review process timely and the loans receive a satisfactory rating.
  7. Provides documentation and support to management, auditors and other departments on an on-going basis.

Participates in special projects and assignments and performs other duties as assigned.


  • **2.75 GPA Required**
  • Minimum of one (1) year in Accounting, Finance, or Business related program
  • Strong computer skills with the following programs: Access, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook and proficient skills with Excel.
  •  Good organizational skills, detail oriented, and ability to prioritize tasks
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills and must be comfortable communicating with all levels of management
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team on simultaneous projects or initiatives.
  • Must be a proficient multi-tasker and comfortable taking direction from multiple people
  • Good analysis, research, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with general office administrative and clerical tasks

Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Average 40 hours per week.
