*Seeking candidates within the Dallas, TX market


  • Develops new customer prospects and business with commercial clients and manages directly or indirectly a portfolio of commercial clients.
  • The Group Manager I for a market is responsible for overseeing Commercial Relationship Managers including prospecting, commercial client development and maintenance of portfolios.
  • This position has responsibilities in regards to budget and assistants RMs in attaining their goals.
  • Appropriate use of Commercial Lending Authority, as designated per policy.


  • Manage independently a significant client portfolio for the bank (>$250MM funded) and/ or manage multiple Relationship Managers that maintain client portfolios
  • Expand existing client relationships which generate incremental revenue for the bank
  • Develop new client relationships which generate acceptable returns for the bank
  • Independently analyze the credit strengths and weaknesses of prospective borrowers and make loan decision recommendations
  • Independently makes recommendations on loan pricing which are competitive with the marketplace and achieve an acceptable return for the bank
  • Independently structure complex loans (term, covenants, collateral, guarantees, etc.) which appropriately protects the bank
  • Independently recognize complex client needs and matching the bank's capabilities to meet these needs
  • Negotiate independently with clients on complex loan structure, pricing, and other product/services for clients
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of bank's lending policies and regulatory requirements
  • Provide mentoring and training to other bank associates, including Relationship Managers, Portfolio Managers, and Client Relationship Assistants.

(A Group Manager may supervise Relationship Managers that carry these responsibilities)

  1. Maintain proper house-holding of relationships
  2. Continually upload financial information and client detail into central repository throughout the underwriting process.
  3. Gather financials for new and renewal opportunities with clients.
  4. Prepare Opportunity Memos as needed for new and renewal requests to initiate underwriting process.
  5. Work directly with the underwriter to ensure accurate reflection of financials
  6. Work directly with the underwriter to ensure accurate preparation of Loss Given Default, Probability of default and Risk Adjusted Return on Capital models at time of new/renew requests.
  7. Coordinate deal team meetings between Relationship Manager, Market President, Senior Credit as required.
  8. Review Underwriting Package for accuracy and provide edit/input items for underwriter.
  9. Create/Prepare term sheets
  10. Finalize term sheets to meet client and bank needs
  11. Engage underwriting to update results of term sheet accordingly and as needed to be reviewed by deal team.
  12. Coordinate credit decision with Market President, Senior Credit Officer, Executive Credit Officer, Chief Credit Officer and Chief Operations Officer.
  13. Create/Prepare Commitment Letter
  14. Finalize any required conditions precedent as needed to ensure Loan Closing has all items needed.
  15. Responsible for reviewing closing documents
  16. Responsible for communication with client

  1. Identifies portfolio weaknesses and trends and alerts management to deteriorating portfolio conditions
  2. Ensure receipt of all financial and covenant requirements of client relationships, managing exceptions as dictated by policy.
  3. Annual Review of client relationships as dictated by policy.
  4. Annual Risk Rating of client relationships as dictated by policy.
  5. Ensures client adherence to covenants with review of calculations, key provisions, and recommendations according to policy.

The position maybe responsible for supervisor of other associates. To carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include assisting with interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. This individual should possess strong commercial banking and management skills.
Four year college degree preferred with a minimum of 15 + years previous banking experience, preferably in the Commercial segment or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers or other authorities


  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.


  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

The following computer skills are required to perform the essential duties of this job:
Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and other support systems.
Sit for long periods of time. Occasionally pick up items weighing not exceeding 50lbs.
Office building with frequent travel to client offices
