Job Purpose: To apply validation techniques to models to verify they are conceptually sound and working as intended.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• 90% of the time – Applying validation techniques to models.
• 10 % of the time – Administrative matters
Supervision Exercised: None – direct or indirect
Supervision Received: Must be able to take direction and then work independently.
Strategic Impact / Scope of Responsibility: Model risk is the potential for adverse consequences from decisions based on incorrect or misused model outputs and reports. We make decisions on how well model risk is being managed throughout the company. The person in this position is charged with evaluating models for conceptual soundness, accuracy and effectiveness as well as the model owner’s model risk management practices.
Requirements Job Requirements:
Education Required: Masters with emphasis in Math and or Statistics.
Education Preferred: PhD with Concentration in Math and or Statistics
Experience required: Variable depending upon education. Previous modeling experience is a plus.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities / Training / Systems:
• Experienced SAS user
• Good communication skills – oral and written
• Good analytical thinker – able to “connect the dots”
• Curious
• Able to make complicated things simple
• Able to work on more than one project at a time
