Job Description

The Mortgage Underwriting Loan Assistant receives direction from assigned management personnel. The incumbent in this position works with underwriting teams to assign loans as directed by management, upload documents, answer questions, and assist with various projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Assist multiple underwriting regions with daily loan assignments and requests.
• Provide administrative support to supervisor and underwriting managers within the department.
• Perform clerical duties related to department activities such as uploading documents, assisting with various requests between departments, preparing reports and special projects as assigned.
• Assist in gathering loan requirements for Underwriting.
• Composes and types routine team correspondence.
• Answers telephone calls, prepares agendas, and arranges conference calls/meetings.
• Develop relationship with corresponding departments in order to handle routine tasks and requests.
• Researches, compiles, and analyzes data for special projects and various reports
• Orders and maintains supplies, and arranges for equipment maintenance
• Other duties may be assigned

• Understanding of the format and documentation used in underwriting transactions and process flow in the mortgage division;
• Basic understanding of Loan Products preferred.
• Basic understanding of the loan process and documents preferred.
• Encompass LOS experience preferred.

Education and/or Experience - High school diploma or general education degree (GED); six months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Computer and Office Equipment Skills – Spreadsheet software (ex. MS Excel), Word Processing Software (ex. MS Word), 10-key calculator, facsimile machine, typing of at least 40 words per minute, telephone, etc.
